CHALLENGE
The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) enrollment platform needed to boost member participation in Disability, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness plans. The existing system was fragmented, forcing members to navigate separate product paths and preventing them from enrolling in multiple plans at once. This led to confusion, higher drop-off rates, and reduced engagement. The challenge was to redesign the experience into a single, intuitive, and accessible workflow that could handle complex plan combinations while supporting members across varying device types and accessibility needs.
SOLUTION
As the designer and developer for this redesign, I reworked the user interface and overall enrollment flow with a strong focus on usability, clarity, and accessibility. A key enhancement was creating a custom product add-on system that allowed members to enroll in multiple plans at once—streamlining selections, reducing errors, and increasing engagement. I also implemented ADA-compliant components, configured secure data-transfer workflows to deliver enrollment information to backend systems and third-party administrators, and added reporting to track user interactions and adoption. The result is a polished, accessible enrollment experience that simplifies plan selection and supports NJEA’s goals.
